Frequently asked questions
- Can I watch a home I don't live in?
- Yes — that's what Tryggo is for. Add your parents' place, a grown child's flat, or a holiday home, and you'll get its hazard alerts, see it on your map, and be able to ask everyone there to check in. The people who live there control their own home, and you can switch between homes whenever you like.
- What does the map show?
- Every home you watch on one map, with live hazard warnings drawn around any home they affect, plus global satellite wildfire detections. Tap a home to see its alerts, today's weather, and the people there.
- How do check-ins work?
- When an alert hits a home — or whenever you're worried — ask everyone there to check in. Each person answers with one tap on "I'm safe", and everyone watching sees the confirmations arrive in real time, so you always know who is accounted for.
- Where does the weather come from?
- Daily forecasts come from MET Norway, a public weather service with global coverage. Hazard warnings come separately from official national sources.
- What kinds of hazard alerts does Tryggo show?
- Your dashboard surfaces earthquakes, tsunamis, severe weather, and wildfires affecting your area, sourced from public agencies — USGS and EMSC for earthquakes (M2.5+ globally), NOAA NTWC/PTWC and GDACS for tsunamis (global coverage), NWS / MeteoAlarm for severe weather (US and Europe), and NASA FIRMS for wildfire detection. Each event is matched to your home's coarse grid cell on our servers, so we never send your exact coordinates to the upstream alert providers. Tryggo is a situational-awareness layer for natural-hazard events with public global feeds — it does NOT carry local-authority evacuation orders, chemical-incident WEAs, AMBER alerts, or other Wireless Emergency Alerts. For those, keep WEA enabled on your phone and follow guidance from your local emergency authority.
- What is a home emergency preparedness app?
- A home emergency preparedness app helps families organise and track everything they need to stay safe during unexpected events — from essential supplies like food, water, and medications, to emergency plans with meeting points and communication protocols. Tryggo brings all of this together in one place so your household is always ready.
- How do I build a family emergency plan?
- With Tryggo, you can create a step-by-step family emergency plan tailored to your home. Add meeting points (nearby, neighbourhood, and out-of-area), set up communication protocols, note medical needs, and assign roles. You can also share a read-only version with extended family or print wallet-sized emergency cards for your children.
- What should I track in a 72-hour emergency kit?
- A 72-hour kit typically includes water (4 litres per person per day), non-perishable food, medications, a first-aid kit, torches, batteries, important documents, and cash. Tryggo provides a personalised checklist based on how many people live at your home, its location, and specific needs — including provisions for children, babies, and pets.
- How do I know if my emergency supplies are out of date?
- Tryggo tracks expiration dates for all your stored essentials and sends you alerts before items expire. You will also receive periodic check reminders for items that do not have a fixed expiration date — like batteries or fire extinguishers — so nothing is ever overlooked.
- Is my data private and secure?
- Absolutely. Tryggo is private by design. Your data is stored securely and is never shared with third parties. All communication is encrypted, and we follow strict data protection practices. You remain in full control of your household information at all times.
